Forget laughing at Colin Firth with his Christmas jumper in Bridget Jones – although he still looked hot – because these are a huge trend this year.
This season has seen the Christmas jumper soar up the fashion charts, being back on the ‘what’s hot list’. Everywhere from the high street to Shoreditch is embracing this kitsch fashion trend.
We know they can be a little bit hard to work with, and get just right so we got onto the blower to our friends over at Global Cool, which have teamed up with The X Factor celebrity stylist Grace Woodward to show you how to turn your Christmas jumper from drab to fab.
They’ve put together a gallery to get your creativeness going and also a video, which will give you a fashion helping hand to get your Christmas jumper look just right.
And Global Cool has also got some very useful tips from Grace. Here they are: What are your top tips for customising a jumper?
“Hard and fast graphics, or pockets and peter pan collars. I also love using embellishment like on the A-Z Dress I made with Richard Sorger. You can also layer up fabrics – so take a jumper, cut it so that it’s cropped and stitch in another layer under with something like chiffon. Try layering square shaped jumpers with tighter tops underneath.”

What would you do to make an awful Christmas jumper on-trend? “I wouldn’t touch it. Adam Reed, the hair-stylist on X Factor, paired a bright Santa jumper with shorts and boots – really cool. Leave them as they are – they’re on trend anyway at the moment – and pair something unusual with them.”
