With Christmas almost upon us, here are some beautiful photos from Meadowbrook Hall to help you get in a holiday mood.
Meadow Brook Hall is a Tudor style mansion (OK, more like a castle) in suburban Detroit's Rochester Hills. It now sits on the grounds of Oakland University, but was originally built by Matilda Dodge Wilson, widow of automobile pioneer John Dodge, and her second husband, lumber baron Alfred G. Wilson.
The home is decorated each year for a special Holiday Walk. I remember attending several times as a boy with my mom and grandmother. If you are in the area, it's a great experience and the perfect way to usher in the holiday season.
There are dozens of rooms decorated with trees and holiday wreaths, andholiday lights. The interiors of the house are elaborately detailed with carved wood and stone.
Details from one of the many decorated Christmas trees on display.
Here's a beautiful holiday tree in a spacious sitting area.
There are many such events around the country, so get out there and explore! What are the holiday walks or decorated historic homes in your area?
